India....ahhh India...

What an interesting experience!!!!
Oui une experience treeeees interessante... hum hum...

The first things that really surprised us was the pollution in the air, it was like there was a veil on the landscape...quite weird!
L'air etait tellement pollue en descendant de l'avion qu'on pensait que quelque chose avait crame...bizarre

But the monuments are really beautiful, here are some pics:


The lotus temple...an amazing monument, we went inside, it is sooo peaceful!

Near Jaipur, we went to a little touristic village, which I don't remember the name (sorry I forgot my India guide book at my parents' house), where we ate typical indian food...yummy!



After our touristic trip, we went to a conference in Lucknow, c'etait la conference la plus mal organisee a laquelle j'ai participe!!! What a waste of everything: waste of paper, waste of money, I've never seen a conference that bad!!!


The conference took place at the City of Montessori School, the children participated in it and did a wonderful debate on global issues!

Hi again...and sorry for being sooooo long!

Well, back to France and it feels like holidays... so, I must admit: I have been very lazy the last few months!!! Eh oui, la France, le vin, le fromage, les vacances et du coup nous en avons oublie notre blog...mais pas nos amis!!!

But I haven't forgotten my friends and wanted to give you some news from Aymeric and I...
So where were we... I think the last post was about Perth, still in Australia... Depuis Perth, beaucoup de choses se sont passees...

And the next post is about India...

Perth: a l'Ouest de l'Australie

Salut!

Next (and last) stop in our long trip around Australia: Perth.

Perth est une tres jolie petite ville a l'Ouest de l'Australie... nous sommes restes une semaine a Perth meme (j'avais une conference la-bas) puis nous avons voyage au sud de Perth et un peu au nord. A perth il y a beaucoup de statues en bronze ici et la... on ne les voit pas toujours car elles se font discretes...

We also went to Rottness island (l'ile Rottness), which is not very far from Perth, and we went cycling all around the island...it was a very nice day and we saw very nice landscapes...

We went to the Margaret River (mmmm...if you like wine, this is the place to go) il y a beaucoup de vignobles dans le region de Margaret River... l'Alliance Francaise de Sydney nous a offert un bon pour aller manger au Voyager Estate (yep they gave us a voucher to eat to the winery Voyager Estate....veeeeeeery nice!) Encore un grand MERCI a l'equipe de l'AF!

Nous sommes egalement decendus a Cape Leeuwin, which is the place where the Southern Ocean and the Indian Ocean meet (c'est la ou l'Ocean du Sud et l'Ocean Indien se rencontrent)

Puis nous sommes remontes avec le campervan jusqu'aux pinnacles, un peu au nord de Perth.

The pinnacles are just wonderful, and nobody knows exactly how they formed! il y a plusieurs hypotheses quant a leur formation, mais personne n'en est tres sur... fascinating!

And finally...our last night in Aussie...sniff... mais l'aventure n'etait pas finie... hehe

Alice Springs

Bonjour,

After our first week in Adelaide, we took the Ghan to cross the desert until Alice Springs...

Le Ghan est un train qui traverse le desert australien du nord au sud. Son nom vient des "Afghans" qui ont ramene des dromadaires d'Afghanistan. Ces dromadaires servaient pour transporter des marchandises du nord au sud et vice-versa.When we arrived at Alice Springs...it was raining!!! et oui, de la pluie dans le desert!
The next day, we woke up early (a 6 heures) to go on a 3-day tour in the bush! Nous avons vu le Kings Canyon, The Olgas et bien sur Uluru (Ayers Rocks)

Le Kings Canyon est absolument magnifique, we took a little dip in the garden of Eden (a little billabong in the rocks- un petit point d'eau dans les rochers)... Great!!! Les kings Canyon fut l'un des lieux mythiques ou a ete tourne le film "Priscilla folle du desert".... ahhhhhh!!!!!

Then we went to the camp where we spent the night... heureusement, il y avait un petit camping a 2 kms avec toilettes, mais sinon, c'etait "pipi dans le bush"! Nous avons dormi dans nos "sleeping bags" dans des "swags"... Une nuit a la belle etoile dans le desert, c'est vraiment super... meme pas froid!!! we thought that we would freeze during the night but on the contrary, we were too hot!

The next day, nous sommes partis voir the Olgas, il s'agit de plusieurs roches qui se sont assemblees pour former un gros "tas"... :) C'est immense, on a du mal a imaginer un truc aussi massif dans un desert plat... et en plus 100% naturel!

and then we went to Uluru for a short walk... then camping again, mais cette fois dans un vrai camping avec piscine!!!! so good to relax in a swimming pool when you walk and travel the whole day in a very very hot weather!

Plus tard dans la soiree, we returned to Uluru to see the sunset over the "pancake" :)

Le lendemain, reveil tres tres tot (4 o'clock) pour aller voir le lever du soleil sur Uluru, puis ballade autour du rocher... Uluru est un site tres sacre pour les aborigenes et il est fortement conseille de ne pas monter dessus...however, some people do walk on it!!!

(ci-dessus: un Thorny devil, petit lezard qui absorbe l'humidite par la peau, ce qui lui permet de vivre dans le desert)

(Vive la Bretagne: le gwenhadu trouve dans un pub au milieu du desert australien!!! This is the flag of our region in France: La Bretagne: we found it in a pub in the middle of the desert!)

Les aborigenes sont les gardiens de la terre et ils se sentent responsables si quoique ce soit arrive aux touristes, par exemple, si un touriste meurt sur le rocher (deshydratation, chute...), ils font un rituel de deuil pendant plusieurs jours durant lesquels ils se mutilent.
(aboriginal people are the guardian of Uluru and they feel responsible for anything that happens to the tourists... for instance, if a tourist dies, they would go on a death ritual for several days during which they hurt themselves...) so if you go to Uluru: please don't climb it!!!!!!

Ensuite, retour a Alice Springs...

Le lendemain, nous avons visite la ville avec Aymeric: the Royal Flying Doctors Service Center (centre ou ils expliquent le travail que font les medecins "volant": les distances sont tellement grandes qu'un service de secours par avion a ete implante), the School of the Air (school which provide education via internet for children in the remot areas- c'est une ecole qui fournit une education a distance (videoconference) pour les enfants qui vivent dans le desert)... these services are simply amazing!!! C'est incroyable le travail qu'ils font!

We also visited the West MacDonnell Ranges, une chaine de montagnes situees a l'ouest d'Alice Springs...

Et puis, depart le lendemain matin (23 novembre) pour l'ouest (or should I say the "far-west")du pays!
